SCRIP Program
The SCRIP program is a fundraiser offered to all band students by the Grandville Band Boosters. By participating in the SCRIP program, you can earn money which will be deposited into your child’s band account. Money in this account can be used for private lessons, rental and/or payment of an instrument, and for band camp or other music camps.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
SCRIP means “substitute cash”. You purchase gift certificates or gift cards through the Band Boosters which can then be used like cash at local nationwide businesses. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, and even gasoline can be purchased with SCRIP -- but most vendors do not allow you to pay charge card balances with SCRIP. Vendors change periodically, as do SCRIP denominations of percentage discounts. Watch for changes to the order forms.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
To begin earning money through SCRIP, fill out the registration form and include it, along with a one-time $5.00 registration fee, with your first order. Please make your check made payable to “Grandville Band Boosters” for the total amount of the order. DO NOT send cash!
WHEN & WHERE ARE ORDERS TAKEN?
Orders are placed weekly on Fridays during the school year, except during vacation times and holidays. Orders are placed bi-weekly during the summer. Your order will be ready for pick up on the following Friday.
WHAT KIND OF DISCOUNTS WILL I GET?
Each vendor offers a different discount percentage. The profit you earn for each vendor is listed on the order form. The band withholds 25% of the total profit to cover the cost of running this program. These expenses include shipping charges, paper, envelopes, and order forms. The balance of these funds are deposited into the general Band Booster fund to benefit all the bands within Grandville Public Schools. The other 75% of the profit goes directly into your child’s band account on a monthly basis.
WHERE CAN I CHECK MY ACCOUNT BALANCE?
You may check the status of your student account anytime on this website by visiting the Charms website or by clicking "STUDENT ACCOUNTS" on the menu above. Student accounts are also posted in the hallway outside the high school band room every period, with the exception of summer months. You will need to know your student's school ID number to locate their account.
