BATTERY
Jon Rice - Jon Rice returns as Caption Head of the Grandville Drumline for 2006. From 1994 to 2000, Jon was the Head Tech of the drumline under former Caption Head, Alvin King, and became Caption Head himself in 2001. Jon was part of the instruction team that lead the drumline to place first at the 1995 MCBA State Finals, and the winter drumline ensembles which placed in the top ten, nationally, at WGI Finals in 1998 and 1999. In his 4 years as a student at GHS, Jon played bass and tenors in the drumline. Jon graduated from Grandville High School in 1994 and now lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Brandy and their son.
Ian Davey - Ian graduated from Grandville High School in 2005. He joined the Grandville Marching Band during his sophomore year, playing bass. He soon became one of the line's stand-out performers, and played tenors for the next two years. During his senior year, Ian was the drumline section leader. He currently attends Grand Valley State University and also plays tenors as a member of Great Lakes Percussion, an indoor percussion ensemble which competes in the MCGC and WGI circuits.
FRONT ENSEMBLE
Karen Hoekstra - Karen was a member of the pit during her four years at Grandville High School, where she graduated in 1998 after playing keyboards under the instruction of Jerry Eadeh, Brennen Mihalovitz, and Greg Secor. In her sophomore year, she performed with the drumline that earned first place at the 1995 MCBA State Finals, and during her senior year, she was a member of the indoor ensemble that took second place in Scholastic A competition at the 1998 WGI Finals in Dayton, Ohio. Karen has been instructing the Grandville pit since 1999. She is a graphic designer and lives in Grand Rapids.
Kailee Dohring - Kailee is a 2007 Grandville High School graduate, and was a member of the pit for four years. She was section leader of the pit in her junior and senior years. Also as a senior, Kailee played marimba in a mallet ensemble which earned a First Division rating at both the 2007 district and state level MSBOA Solo & Ensemble competitions. Kailee currently attends Grand Valley State University and joins the Grandville Drumline in her first year as an instructor.
